Roam Consulting

About

Roam Consulting is an assorted visa and travel solutions company located in Jacksonville, Florida. Roam exists because I aim to empower students and professionals to gain transformative cultural experiences through internships, cultural exchange programs, language immersion, and travel opportunities. I am dedicated to creating opportunities that build cross-cultural understanding and enrich lives on a global scale.

I specialize in working with students, professionals, and organizations across the United States and globally, fostering meaningful connections within international communities. With a strong foundation in cultural competence and a passion for bridging cultural gaps, I aim to promote understanding and collaboration through friendships, resource development, and thoughtful influence.

Roam Consulting was born from the passion for travel and enabling others to travel. The benefits and exposure granted to those who remove themselves from their communities is so important for personal development.

Meet the Founder, Kelsy Melton

Kelsy’s interest of the global world started young. After she began French lessons in High School, she was able to participate in an exchange program in France for 3 weeks. During this trip, she experienced many hardships and challenges with the language and culture. Despite this, the memory remains positive.

Early on, Kelsy always gravitated towards those from other countries. She asked questions, and tried to understand what was not only different between them, but was also alike. Through a relationship, Kelsy has visited Turkey many times and gained permanent residency for 1 year in 2014. There she taught ESL at two different language schools. Additionally, she took Turkish lessons and learned enough to have general conversations with the locals.

Even though Kelsy returned back to the US, she follows her desire for travel. Kelsy participated in her first solo trip at the age of 24 in Costa Rica where she spent 10 days in a tropical city. During this time period, Kelsy began her career in the J-1 Intern/Trainee Visa field. In this job, she began to understand the inner-workings of international travel.

She then spent six months in the south of France taking intensive French lessons. After she completed her lessons, she began to work for an internship placement agency in The Netherlands after her time in France. This position allowed her to understand how the relationships with schools and employers worked in the field of internship placement and processing.

While she was in Europe for nearly a year, she visited many countries such as Greece, Turkey, Germany, Spain, England, Belgium, and The Netherlands. Once she returned to the US once again, she had the opportunity to visit Canada.

In 2018, she once again decided her American life was to be put on hold and began a Master of International Management in Rennes, France. There she would learn many of the hard skills that elevated her soft skills.

From 2021 – 2024, she worked with Odyssey International Camp as the J1 Camp Counselor Manager where she was responsible for program development and collaborating with their international office in Mexico and the Philippines.

During her tenure as a J1 Camp Counselor program manager, she came to know the camping industry very well. She listened to the camps and the counselors about their journey on the program. She eventually started to see the gaps, gaps in which her experience could fill in, which lead her to develop her Culture Coordinator services.

Roam was born because the founder found her self always answering travel related questions for others. She understands her knowledge and experience has value. She wants to take this value to the next level and reach those in and out of her professional circles.
