Roam Consulting is a J-1 visa and cultural mobility consulting firm dedicated to expanding access to meaningful international experiences. We support students, professionals, and organizations in navigating internships, cultural exchange programs, language immersion, and global travel opportunities with clarity and confidence.
At its core, Roam Consulting exists to make cross-cultural exploration both accessible and impactful. We believe that stepping beyond familiar environments fosters not only personal growth, but also deeper global understanding. Through a combination of strategic guidance, cultural competency expertise, and personalized support, we help our clients engage with the world in more intentional and informed ways.
Our work spans both individual and organizational partnerships across the United States and internationally. Whether advising on J-1 visa pathways, developing cultural training frameworks, or supporting program design, we focus on building bridges—connecting people, perspectives, and opportunities in ways that are sustainable and mutually beneficial.
Roam Consulting was born from the passion for travel and enabling others to travel. The benefits and exposure granted to those who remove themselves from their communities is so important for personal development.
Roam Consulting was founded by Kelsy Melton, whose career and life experiences have been shaped by a consistent pursuit of cultural understanding. From early international exposure in Turkey—where she taught English, studied the language, and immersed herself in local communities—to solo travel and extended time across Europe, Kelsy developed a nuanced perspective on both the opportunities and challenges of global mobility and cultural mishaps.
Her professional background includes leadership in the J-1 visa space, most notably as J-1 Camp Counselor Program Manager with Odyssey International Camp. In this role, she oversaw program development, international partnerships, and participant experience across multiple countries.
Through this work, she identified critical gaps in cultural integration, participant support, and program cohesion—insights that now inform Roam Consulting’s approach.
Further strengthening this foundation, Kelsy earned a Master of International Management in Rennes, France, where she combined academic training with lived international experience to deepen both her strategic and intercultural skill sets.
Whether you are preparing for a cultural exchange, internship, or international opportunity, Roam Consulting offers guidance designed to help you travel smarter and grow globally.
